Kota Kinabalu: The statement questioning why the MCA Sabah Liaison Committee chairmanship is not held by a Sabahan is aimed at discriminating the party by those who want to destroy the unity and harmony of Sabah MCA.Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu said MCA, being a political party with strong ties among its members, will not be easily influenced by some people whose objective is only to damage the party.

"Sabah MCA is now under the guidance of MCA Deputy President Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong who oversees the operation of the various party divisions in Sabah. The members here appreciate his effort and time spent here.

"Wee visits Sabah regularly since he took over the post while, at the same time, he has helped improve the many aspects of the party in the State and the people in Sabah," he said.

Hiew added that on top of overseeing party matters, Wee is also actively promoting SME loan schemes while, at the same time, continuing to help Chinese education development.

In fact, he said, Sabah MCA is very thankful to Wee for his assistance in managing the party in Sabah.

"Therefore, the question whether the position is held by a Sabahan or not, should not arise.

Wee is here to manage the committee until the time is ripe for him to let go of the position.

He always emphasises that winning the next election for BN is the top priority," he said.
