Sabah knocked out of Youth Cup

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Under-19 squad were knocked out of the Youth Cup competition after a goalless draw in the quarterfinal second leg match against Kelantan at the Likas Stadium on Monday.Kelantan made it to the semi-final 1-0 on aggregate following their win in the first leg.However, the match was marred by ugly scenes toward the end as some players from both teams engaged in fist fights and kicking after one of the Kelantan players was fouled in injury time.

The match was interrupted for a few minutes before it resumed.It was just not Sabah's day as Jelius Ating's boys enjoyed plenty of possession and shooting chances, especially in the second half.But they struggled to make any headway against Kelantan's goalkeeper Mohd Fikri Che Soh who did well to keep a clean sheet with some magnificent saves.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Sabah could have scored early in the opening half to calm the players' nerves but Ariusdius Jais shot wide with only the keeper to beat in the 13th minute while Aidil Shahrolmizan Asimin's shot hit the keeper's leg in another one-on-one situation.

Hamran Peter had the best chance in the second half when a mistake by a Kelantan player saw him burst into the box but shot sky high in front of an open goal and that summed up Sabah's disappointing night.
