Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Amateur Boxing Federation (PTAM) has not received any letter from the Malaysian Anti-Doping Agency (Adamas) on a boxing medallist failing a doping test at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Sarawak in July. A PTAM spokesman claimed they were still waiting for the letter which should have arrived Tuesday. The case, he said would be brought up at a PTAM executive council meeting chaired by president Tan Sri Isa Samad after they had received the letter before a hearing on the athlete concerned by PTAM's disciplinary committee.

"After hearing the boxer out, we will then decide on the next course of action. However we have yet to receive the letter. "We have also been in contact with the National Sports Council (MSN) to obtain further information on the case from time to time," he said. At the same time, he gave his assurance the federation would give its full cooperation to Adamas to ensure the case was conducted in a transparent and fair manner. Adamas unit head, Nishel Kumar stressed that the unit was only responsible for conducting doping tests and getting samples of athletes to be sent to a laboratory in India for the confirmation test as Malaysia did not have the doping laboratory recognised by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada).

"The decision we received from the laboratory in India has been sent to MSN for further action, so MSN is responsible for issuing the letter on the decision as they are the rights holders of Sukma," he said. – Bernama
