Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old engineer was charged at the Magistrate's Court here Wednesday with three counts of cheating a woman of RM3, 855.75 over the installation of laundry machine gas pipes.Salleh Dualin pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus to cheating one Khafiah Tan Kha Hui by telling her that he would install the laundry machine gas pipes at her company premises.His bluff caused Tan to give him RM1,500, RM855.75 and RM1,500 as deposit payment for the works at 8.30pm on March 2, at the Yoyo premises in Lintas, at 9.30am on March 3 and at 10.30am on March 12, both at Inanam Sentral, Jalan Tuaran.

The court set Oct 18 for case management and released Salleh, who was represented by counsel Hamid Ismail on a bail of RM1,500 in two sureties on each charge.Each offence framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of between one and 10 years, and whipping and fine, on conviction.
In the same court, two people were charged with having 5gm of cannabis.Zachary Wang, 20, and Ho Yen Yie, 19, were accused of having the drugs at 11.35pm on Sept 24 at a car park at Damai Plaza, Luyang.

However, no plea was taken from them as the chemist's report was not ready.The court fixed Oct 18 for mention and offered Wang and Ho bail at RM2,500 in two sureties each.

Meanwhile, three men were penalised for drink-driving.Edward J M Dusin, Woon Woo Tiam and Desmelno Jinolis were fined RM1,300 or seven days' jail each after they admitted before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun to committing the offence between May 22 and Aug 13 this year.In another case, 40-year-old Bosro Johan was fined a total of RM1,600 for three traffic offences.Bosro admitted to driving a lorry without a driving licence and insurance coverage as well as without wearing proper attire by driving it barefoot.He was found to have committed the offences at 9.40am on Aug 21 along Jalan Tuaran By-Pass.
