Raping girl, 14: Local to enter his defence

Kota Kinabalu: A 23-year-old local was ordered to enter his defence on a charge of raping an underage girl.Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim made the order on Mohd Sudir Ruhildo after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against him.

The court set Oct 7 for Mohd Sudir's defence and two witnesses would be called in his defence.

Mohd Sudir is accused of raping the 14-year-old girl at 3am on Oct 18, 2015 on a bench at the Sg Mas playground, Manggatal.

The offence under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.

The prosecution had called seven witnesses during the hearing.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Dinesh Raja conducted the prosecution, while counsel Timothy Daut defended Mohd Sudir.

In another case, two men were fined for allowing illegal immigrants to stay in their premises.

Yusuf Ayub, a Pakistani, was ordered to pay a fine of RM5,000 in default four months' jail for permitting a Filipino without valid document to stay at the SUDC building in Tambunan on Sept 5 at 3pm.

Robin Ting King Ping was fined a total of RM15,000 for allowing three illegal immigrants to stay at Korean Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd between 5.45pm and 8.05pm on March 1, this year.

Both of them pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz to the charge against them.

Prosecuting Officer Hamisah Puteh from the Immigration Department appeared for the prosecution.
