misappropriating RM14,500: Man charged

Kota Kinabalu: A 33-year-old man was charged with four counts of misappropriating a company's ATM card by withdrawing RM14,500 from it.Rahim Razalee Maidin pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to all the charges against him on Wednesday.On the first to fourth count, Rahim is accused of misusing the ATM card by withdrawing money several times between July 27 and Aug 4 in 2015 at the CIMB Bank's Putatan branch.

The charge stated that Rahim had changed the signature on the ATM card and applied for new ATM card without the knowledge of the company.The offence under Section 403 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between one year and five years, and whipping or fine, on conviction.The court set Nov 7 and 9 for case management before two different magistrates and Rahim was released on a bail of RM3,000 in two local sureties for each charge.Inspector P. Nathan and Chief Inspector Lim Swee Beng appeared for the prosecution.

Joe Hassan and Albin Jumil pleaded guilty to having the stolen items at a store in Kolombong, Inanam on Sept 5 this year.

The court ordered Joe and Albin referred to the Immigration Department after serving their jail sentence.
