Trapped dad, daughter burnt to death in Tawau

Tawau: A father and daughter were burnt to death at Kg Tanjung Batu Keramat when fire destroyed six houses and damaged five other premises as well as a vehicle, Saturday. Buhari Langka, 57, and Nuraisyah Buhari, 22, were believed to have been trapped in their house when the tragedy happened. Their remains were found in separate locations of the semi-wooden premises.

Deputy District Fire and Rescue Department Chief Faisal Ahmad said their team managed to recover Nuraisyah's remains at 6.45am, while her father's body was recovered at 8.02am. "The remains were handed over to the police at 9.26am," he said. A 5.27am distress call prompted seven fire engines including utility vehicles manned by 37 firefighters to the scene. The team brought the fire under control at about 6.34am. He said they are still investigating the cause of fire and estimated loss. Those from the police force, Malaysian Civil Defence Force and Rela were also at the scene to assist.
