Thomas hopes to defend CIMB Classic title

Kuala Lumpur: Defending champion Justin Thomas of the United States is set to defend his title in the 2016 CIMB Classic golf championship which tee-off tomorrow at the TPC Kuala Lumpur in Bukit Kiara. "It is great to be back. I've never had the opportunity to come to a tournament as a defending champion before, so just being out there today with my caddie, Jimmy was good. "I kind of talked about some things that happened last year and just the good vibes we have and the good memories...It's fun. Hopefully we can recreate some of those good memories and good things," the 23-year-old told a press conference Wednesday.ADVERTISEMENT The world number 35 arrived in Malaysia in good form after finishing in a tie for eighth placing last week and joint sixth in the Tour Championship at the end of the PGA Tour's 2015/2016 season. He was also tied third in the Players Championship earlier in the year and was in the running for a captain's pick for the Ryder Cup.He will face a stellar cast of stars from the PGA Tour and Asian Tour, including Adam Scott, Patrick Reed, Ryan Moore, Anirban Lahiri and Scott Hend, in his bid to retain his maiden professional title.Meanwhile, last year's runner-up, Adam Scott of Australia is hoping to go one better in his return to the CIMB Classic, the only PGA Tour-sanctioned event in Southeast Asia.
