Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Rhino coach Johnny Dominicus was left disappointed with the 1-2 loss to UiTM in the team's final match of the season at the Likas Stadium, Friday night."Obviously I am very disappointed to lose in the final match of the season in front of our home fans.

"It doesn't matter how well we played as it was the final result that counts. So we have to accept that."

He said the team must look forward to the new season.

"Despite the disappointment, what matter most was that the team managed to avoid relegation which was the main target for me when I took over.

"The match against UiTM again highlighted the lack of finishing from the team despite numeral goal scoring chances.

"We also did not have enough input from our foreign imports. Muamer (Salibasic) was injured for a long time and Everton (Santos) was also not 100 per cent fit and we only depended on Igor (Cerina) and Dedi (Kusnandar).

"But I am very impressed with the youngsters in the team. They have progressed well and showed high spirit.

I think only inexperience let them down. If they were up against a full local squad I don't think we have any problem.

"For the new season, the team need to find a top notch striker. If you look at this season, our defender (Igor) is the one who really took his chances well to score goals instead of the strikers. In the match against UiTM, Maxsius (Musa) had two hit the post and you never know, the final result could have been different if any of that two managed to go in."

Johnny also blamed the visitors for their unsporting behaviour.

"We knew that it was a must win match for them as they tried to avoid the drop, so there were a lot of tactical moves such as wasting time and to me there was a lack of sportsmanship. But at the end of the day, we should have taken our chances as well."

With the loss, the Rhinos ended their season in ninth place, way off their fifth place target at the start of the season with 20 points from five wins, five draws and 12 losses.
