Kota Kinabalu: Malaysians in Sabah keen to learn pepper cultivation can enlist to be trained by two growers in Serian, Sarawak. Kapayan Assemblyman Dr Edwin Bosi said the growers Sambeng and Lengai, have agreed to take as many trainees as possible for about 3 to 4 weeks with free food and lodging and even allowances.

"My task will be to look for the people (trainees) and arrange for their flights and placement," said Bosi, in a statement.

Dr Bosi said this special link or connection between Serian and Penampang through black pepper is also open to anyone who is interested.

He earlier received Serian DAP Chief Edward Andrew Luak and his 8-member entourage at his residence at Kg Kibabaig Penampang.

Luak and his members are here on a 3-day visit and study tour. They will be visiting a ginger farm in Papar, tapioca mill and farms in Kota Marudu and also to learn about Partners of Community Organisations (Pacos) and Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (JOAS).

Dr Bosi who is also DAP Sabah Deputy Chairman said that he is happy to connect with his counterpart in Serian, Sarawak.

He said it was time well spent when he was helping Luak in preparation for the recent Sarawak State election.

Dr Bosi added while there he met many black pepper growers from the Bidayuh community and impressed with their successful enterprise.

Those interested can contact Samantha Richard at 014-3514748 for further information.
