Special Olympics 5-a-side tourney this Saturday

Kota Kinabalu: The 9th Special Olympics Borneo Cup 5-a-side football competition organised by Special Olympics Sabah will be held at the SM La Salle football field in Tanjung Aru this Saturday (October 29).Brunei, Labuan, Sarawak and Sabah are set to take part in the annual event which was first hosted by Brunei in 2006.

The opening ceremony of the one-day event is expected to be officiated by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan at 8am, and the public is urged to come and support the event which will end at 5pm.

A free health screening for vision (Opening Eyes), dental (Special Smiles) and fitness screenings (Fun Fitness) especially for the participants will also be held on the 1st floor of the school hall above the cafeteria from 8.30am-3pm.

Parents and guardians are also encouraged to bring their children with intellectual disabilities for the free check.

Meanwhile, the closing ceremony will be held at the football field at 5pm followed by a presentation dinner for the athletes and officials at the Hotel Yaho, Sembulan at 7pm where City Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai is the guest of honour.
