KL project: State Govt asked to explain
Kota Kinabalu: The State Government has been asked to explain a mixed development project in Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur which stated "Ketua Menteri Sabah" as the landowner."If it is indeed a joint-venture between the developer and the State Government as claimed by the sales people when we went there recently, how would that benefit Sabahans?" said Parti Warisan Sabah (PWS) Youth Chief Dato' Mohd Aziz Jamman.

Mohd Aziz, who was the former Umno Semporna Youth Chief, also questioned whether the project actually belonged to the Chief Minister or the Chief Minister's Department and if it is possible for the Chief Minister's Department to own land at all.

He said the mixed development project comprising commercial, residential, business, retails hotel and corporate offices is currently at 70 per cent completion and situated on a very prominent location in Kuala Lumpur.

"Does it mean that Sabahans can rent office lots dirt cheap? Is it okay for Sabahans to stay in the beautiful apartments and pay minimum rent? Is this some kind of Rumah Sabah?" he told a press conference, Tuesday.

Mohd Aziz said the people of Sabah have the right to know how the project managed to slip under the radar if indeed it was a State project. "As far as I am concerned, the State Government never made any announcement with regard to the existence of this alleged joint-venture. In fact, I don't remember the project ever being mentioned before this," he said.

He said, it would also be good to know if Sabah Development Bank (SDB) is involved in the project.

"I am not criticising the project but the Chief Minister must come clean and explain thoroughly.

Maybe the project will be good for Sabah but we will never know unless a clear explanation is given," he said.
