Tenom: Sabah Mamagun NGO Organisation (Mamagun) slammed the United Sabah Dusun Association (Usda) President Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin for saying that the use of the term "Momogun" as group classification of natives in Sabah wil pollute their ethnic identity. Its President, Rudy Sulaiman Mairi said Ewon obviously did not understand the reason and purpose of using the term in government forms and national statistics.

He said the Momogun National Congress had already repeatedly clarified that the use of the term 'Momogun' will not replace anyone's ethnic identity.

He said as far as the Muruts are concerned, the term has been long awaited because all along, they have been classified as Kadazandusuns, which they never agreed to.

"It's about time we call ourselves Muruts and be part of the Momogun big family," he said.

He said the Murut community will never think that their identity would be polluted because they choose to be part of "Momogun."

"We have never agreed to be called sub-ethnic of the Dusun," he said.

He argued that Usda has no locus standi to challenge MNC because it had failed to advocate for the term 'Dusun' as group classification for natives in Sabah.
