Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Council of Datuks (MDNS) has pledged to continue supporting and rendering full cooperation to the government in developing the local communities and the State. Its President Datuk Claudius Roman said the members have unanimously agreed to do their best in contributing what they can for the community and State's development.

He said they will render assistance that could reduce the burden of the people who are facing economic challenges nowadays via the MDNS's community and social activities.

"We acknowledge the call by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman who wishes us to share our knowledge, and skills that could uplift the local communities' wellbeing.

"Apart from that, we also pledged to enhance our commitment in carrying out social responsibility and help the underprivileged in Sabah.

"Last but not the least, we assure to look after the good name and prestige of the State awards that have been conferred to us," he said.

Roman said this at the Patron's Night 2016 organised by MDNS to celebrate the official 63rd birthday of the Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at Sutera Magellan Resort here, recently.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman represented by Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Radin Malleh officiated at the event.

Also present were the wife of the Head of State, Toh Puan Norlidah R.M. Jasni, State Deputy Speaker Datuk Johnny Mositun, several assistant ministers, State Police Commissioner Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun, MDNS Adviser Datuk Dr Clarence Bongkos Malakun, Patron's Night organising chairman Datuk Seri T.C. Goh and the council members.

Roman said the State government's support for MDNS will be the catalyst to the council's spirit to continue contributing their ideas and effort to Sabah.

"Since the establishment of MDNS on July 20, 2010, we have implemented many social and charity activities including paid a courtesy call to the MDNS's Patron, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and to the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

"We took the opportunity to give our inputs and ideas on certain issues in line with the main objectives of MDNS which is a body to voice out and make a stand on any matter and polemic issues involving our members," he said.

Furthermore, Roman said MDNS also organised community activities though charity golf tournaments with the proceeds distributed to welfare organisations and charity homes in Sabah.

He said they also rendered assistance to the Ranau earthquake victims two years ago which was in line with the MDNS's goals to encourage the members to make contributions that would help the community's wellbeing and development.

"Sabah is fortunate to have a charismatic and credible leader in Datuk Seri Musa Aman and we in MDNS will support and have confidence in his leadership to bring Sabah forward.

"We have seen and gone through all developments brought by him to Sabah and we are optimistic that Datuk Seri will bring more development benefits to the State and the people," Roman said.
