30 complete Permata Early Childhood Education Course

Kota Kinabalu: Thirty candidates who are mainly teachers completed a 25-day Permata Early Childhood Education Course in Keningau recently. They will sit for a written examination today (Oct 27).

Puan Dayang Rogayah bte Awang Besar who is the Principal Assistant Director, Childhood Community Service Order Division of the Sabah Welfare Department, officiated the closing ceremony.

She advised all Childcare Centres (Taska) to get themselves registered and any centres operating illegally face the prospect of being compounded under the Childcare Act 1984.

On reason for the extended 25-day course, Mary Kan Kiob, advisor of Sabah Childcare Association , said: "It is compulsory for all–pre-school educators to attend the 3-week Permata course."

She added: "During the three-week course, participants are exposed to the theories of influential researchers of Early Childhood Educators and comprehensive development of children from 0-6 years old plus five days of practical reality exposure at playschool centres to work with children."
