Keningau: A community activist has questioned the Government over the heavily used bridge at the Tamu ground he claimed to have been neglected for over two decades. Parti Keadilan Rakyat Council of Elders deputy chairman Robert Linggi claimed that no repairs have ever been done to the bridge that suffered damage as a result of Storm Greg in 1996. He said the ailing bridge is used by thousands every day and therefore deserve to be repaired and upgraded.

He pointed out that the bridge connects people to some main schools, offices and the town centre."I want to ask the federal and state governments why this bridge that is used by thousands of people has yet to be repaired. Where is the money," he asked. He drew comparison with the bridge at Kg Bandukan that only connects to a few villages and a resort that cost RM7 million to build. He could not understand how so much money was spent to build it yet hardly anyone use it.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

"Why spend RM7 million to build a bridge that hardly anyone uses but neglect the one at Tamu ground that is used by 20,000 people every day," he said while calling the Minister in charge to take note.

He also said that even the status of the Kg Bandukan bridge project is still blurry as according to sources some RM2 million has been tendered out but work has yet to start. He hoped the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission would investigate.
