Harith top 20 funniest people in the world

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia "Godfather of Comedy" Harith Iskandar (pic) is in the lead to be named Funniest Person In The World come December.One of 20 semifinalists shortlisted from a pool of 86 comedians from 55 countries based on an online voting system, Harith is blowing away the competition with 770,000 votes garnered so far. The closest competitor is Alex Calleja from the Philippines with 396,000 votes."The finals of the competition will be held in Helsinki, Finland from December 4 to 10 but online voting is already underway based on the videos we had submitted," Harith said after a show at a hotel in George Town recently.

"Judging is based on 50 per cent online voting and another 50 per cent live judges during the finals."Harith said he was already preparing for the finals and collecting relevant materials for the big day."It will be an international audience and the jokes must appeal to them."During my shows and travels around the world, I have managed to collect much material which can appeal to an international audience.

"Jokes on family matters parents, food or ghost stories are among those which can appeal to anyone irrespective of race, religion or the country of origin."Harith who was mobbed by his fans to pose for selfies and photographs while at a eatery politely obliged his fans throughout the time he was there.
