Harapan open to working together: Lajim

Kota Kinabalu: Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat) is open to working with any Sabah-based opposition parties in the coming general election.Its President Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin said it also includes the newly-formed Parti Warisan Sabah."In fact, not just Warisan but any political parties in Sabah that are ready to accept our policies and work together for the interest of Sabahans," he told a press conference, Thursday.ADVERTISEMENT He said the party also aims to contest in a straight fight with the Barisan Nasional in the coming elections provided other opposition parties are in agreement to the approach."We have to ask ourselves if we're sincere for the people. If not, I can't guarantee a straight fight with the BN. And don't forget there'll be independent candidates as well," he said.But, he said, the party leadership will be meeting leaders from other opposition parties to discuss ways they could cooperate.ADVERTISEMENT Lajim, whose party was approved by the Registrar of Societies two days ago, said they hope to recruit 2,600 members in two weeks. At the press conference, Lajim announced the party supreme council line-up, including deputy presidents Datuk Maijol Mahap and Ahsim Jamat.

He also announced the rest of the line-up including six vice presidents although four more remain unoccupied.
