RM32m for non- Muslim groups

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government will disburse its annual allocation to non-Islamic religious bodies, Chinese and mission schools located in the West Coast at the Grand Ballroom, Magellan Sutera Resort on Nov 14 at 3pm. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman will present the allocation to the respective religious bodies and schools on that day. Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang said the State Government has allocated RM32 million for non-Islamic religious bodies and schools this year.

"We will disburse the funding to non-Islamic religious bodies, Chinese and mission schools in the West Coast, which includes Kota Belud, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu, Papar, Beaufort, Sipitang and Ranau.

"Recipients are required to arrive at 1.30pm for registration. The ceremony will start at 3pm sharp," Teo said during a courtesy call by Santavana Forest Hermitage led by Ronnie Ang here.

He said similar event will be held in Kudat on Nov 15 and in the interior for Keningau, Tenom and Tambunan areas on Nov 26. The date for disbursement of allocation to religious bodies and schools in Sandakan and Tawau has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Santavana Forest Hermitage is holding a Chinese calligraphy exhibition cum fundraiser at Sky Hotel on Nov 19 and 20. Teo was invited to officiate at the event on November 20, 10am.

The objective of the event is to raise fundS to acquire a shoplot at Alamesra to set up an education centre.

Ang said the Santavana Forest Hermitage planned to relocate its administration centre in Kepayan to the new education centre when the lease expired in 2018.

"A corner shoplot at Alamesra costs around RM2 million and we need another RM1 million for renovation.

"So far we have raised 20 to 30 per cent of our RM3 million target.

"We hope to raise more funds for the education centre during the upcoming event," Ang added.

Meanwhile, Teo assured that the State Government's allocation for Santavana Forest Hermitage would be forthcoming.
