Man electrocuted while doing wiring work

Kota Kinabalu: A 38-year-old man carrying out wiring work was believed to have been electrocuted at Kampung Talantang, in Kota Marudu, Wednesday.Kota Marudu Police Chief Supt Mohd Izaan Abdullah said police have identified the victims as George Jaidah from Kg Talantang, Kota Marudu. He said the victims was doing wiring work at a SIOB church in Kg Talantang when he fell from a 12-foot tall electrical post, after being electrocuted.ADVERTISEMENT A 5.30pm distress call prompted seven firefighters from the Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue Department to the scene located about 16 kilometres away. Their early findings showed the man fell from atop an electrical post after he was believed to have been electrocuted. The man had already been rushed to the hospital on an ambulance by the time the team arrived, prompting the team to monitor the site for danger while they waited for personnel from the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd to arrive. ADVERTISEMENT Several known fatalities caused by electrocution had been reported in the State, among them a 14-year-old foreigner who was found dead after he was believed to have been electrocuted at Kg Cahaya Baru, Mile 3, in Sandakan, in July this year. Another civilian was also found dead after he slipped into a drain which had illegal wiring connections from a nearby electricity pole in Tawau on June the same year.

A fireman was also electrocuted in the line of duty in Sandakan last year.
