Bursa, MAICSA launch guide book

Kuala Lumpur: Bursa Malaysia Bhd and the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Monday launched a guidebook providing best practices on Annual General Meetings (AGMs) tailored for chairmen and directors of public-listed companies.Bursa Malaysia Chairman Tan Sri Amirsham A Aziz said the guide, titled 'Best Practice Guide on AGMs for Listed Issuers', provides the principles and steps required to prepare, convene and conduct an efficient and effective AGM."This guide also contains best practices from other jurisdictions including Australia, Hong Kong and United Kingdom mooted for good AGM practices as well as illustrations and case studies which will be useful for chairmen and directors in listed companies," he said in his welcoming remarks at the guide launch here Monday.

Amirsham said the guide, which could also act as an introduction for new directors, would also benefit seasoned directors as it would serve as a reminder of the procedural requirements that they should adopt, to ensure that their AGM is managed in the best interests of the shareholders.Meanwhile, Immediate Past President of MAICSA, Chua Siew Chuan, said although the guide is not a must for the board of directors (BoD) to comply or adhere to, it could help them leverage on the AGM to engage with shareholders.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
