RM still accepted in Mecca, Medina

Kuala Lumpur: The Pilgrims' Fund Board (Tabung Haji) has denied reports in the social media that the ringgit is not accepted in Mecca and Medina, Saudi Arabia. In a statement here Tuesday, Tabung Haji said, a check with its office in Jeddah showed that the Malaysian currency is accepted by most money-changers in the two holy cities. It said the use of ATM or credit cards must follow proper procedures and activated to make the withdrawals."Those going to the holy cities and intend to use the ATM or credit cards, must contact the respective banks to get the proper instructions," it said. – Bernama
