Umno branch in Tawau denies quitting claims
Tawau: The Blok 31 Luar Bandar Umno branch here has denied claims they had quit the party, saying such allegations led to them receiving a letter from Umno headquarters. Its head, Amissain Latif, 58, insisted that they are still with Umno despite attempts by some parties to slander them.

"Me and 157 branch members still fully support the leadership of Tawau Umno, especially under division head Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, deputy head Datuk Syed Abas Syed Ali and vice chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan," he said.

He also stressed that on his side, they still have complete confidence in the leadership of the party at Federal and State level, namely party President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Sabah Umno Liaison Committee Chairman Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

Amissain condemned the irresponsible actions by certain quarters who spread lies which resulted in them receiving the letter. He also warned new Opposition parties based in Sabah not to try to fool the people at grassroots level.

"They are not even elected government but are already spreading lies, who knows what will happen if they are elected as government someday," he said expressing his annoyance with the irresponsible actions of the opposition.
