M-cyclist, pillion killed in LD crash

Lahad Datu: A motorcyclist and his pillion were killed after their motorcycle collided with a Toyota Vigo at Km 6 along Desa Kencana-Lahad Datu road on Wednesday.The identity of the two men, in their 20s, who succumbed to serious injuries at the scene, have yet to be established.

It was learnt that they were heading towards Desa Kencana from Cenderawasih when the 4.45pm mishap took place.

District Police Chief ACP Hamzah Ahmad said preliminary investigation revealed the accident occurred when the Toyota Vigo driven by a 40-year-old local woman lost control of her wheel.

"The Toyota Vigo skidded and went into the opposite direction before colliding with the motorcycle.

"The impact caused the car and the motorcycle to crash into a plantation area," he said, adding the Toyota driver escaped with minor injuries.
