60 competing in Sabah Junior Tennis Masters

Kota Kinabalu: The year end Sabah Junior Tennis Masters with 60 players competing got going Monday at the Likas tennis courts.In the boys 18 under category, Md Arif Irfan is the top seed while Nik Ahmad Zharfan is the second seed.

Brandon Billy and Ahmad Izzudin are expected to join them in the semis.

Heading the boys 16 is Hiew Kee Jun with Luke Guansing and both are looking to reach the final.

In the under 14 boys category, Luke Guansing and Kevalraj Singh are the 1st and 2nd seeds.

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government continued its momentum in managing the economy in line with the commitment and spirit of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) when it posted record high state revenue of RM6.973 billion last year.

Ryan Chee and Darius Wong are also expected to meet in the semi-finals.

Ryan Chee is the top seed in the boys 12 under followed by Shan Daniel, Alan Irfan and Danish Affiq Hamzah.

The boys 10 will have Md Radhie and Shan Daniel with Jonathan Joshua and Danish Affiq Hamzah following behind.

In the girls competition, the Sukma girls will fight it out with Nurshaneem Shamsuddin and Karen Chang the top players in the 18 under.

In the 16 under, Sukma girls Clarissa Sofia, Azlien Natasyah Muhd Said, Karen Chang will fight it out among themselves and Kenwyn Chang.

The junior masters is a year end tournament to gauge all the junior talents and how they have improved.

The tournament is being held at the Likas tennis courts.

The roofing work is half completed but Sabah Tennis Association (STA) is using the non-roofed courts.

These courts have not been resurfaced and are not in the best of condition.

The roofed courts which are in the same condition as the non-roofed ones are also damaged due to movements of machinery and needs resurfacing as soon as possible.

STA has written to the Sabah Sports Board on the matter and STA President Johnson Koh has also personally met with the Board's General Manager Penyuki Matta and its Chairman Datuk Louis Rampas.
