84 attend Cat Lovers Fiesta in S'kan

Sandakan: The Sandakan Cat Lovers Fiesta 2016 organised by the Sandakan Cat Lovers Club at the Sandakan Sports Complex on Sunday attracted 84 entries from among cat lovers and owners from Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu and Kota Kinabalu.Among the 84 who attended, was a civil servant, NorAlizan bin Jail, 32, who currently has 10 local and Persian cats.

Speaking to the media, Sandakan Cat Lovers Club President, Raemzi Hazizul, said the club organised the festival as a starting point to all cat lovers in the State.

The club also hoped the event will would be held again in the future here.

Meanwhile, Sandakan Cat Lovers Fiesta, Programme Director IIeh Michael, said the objective of the fiesta was to gather cat lovers from all over Sabah.

"Before this, we also have also held cat shows with non-governmental organisations and others," he explained.

"This time, since registering with RoS in March this year, our club has been organising this event on our own," he added.

Among other activities held during the festival, were colouring contest, exhibition and sales outlets, talks on understanding your cat, Cat Health Screening (Free), Lucky Draw and Studio Mini Sandakanfm and other sales outlets.

A jury from the peninsula was also invited to evaluate the cat competition for five categories held at the event.

The categories were 'Best of The Best', 'Best in Show', 'All Breeds (Adult)', 'All Breed (kitten)', 'Household Pet (Domestic Longhair), 'Household Pet (Domestic Shorthair), 'Household Pet (Local Cat)'.

Also contested was 'Most Creative Owner', 'Most Popular Cat' and 'Best Picture'.
