Kota Kinabalu: Police do not rule out that the cache of weapons found in Lahad Datu on Tuesday was left behind by Sulu gunmen who tried to intrude Tanduo three years ago."So far, from our investigation, we determined that there is a high probability that these weapons were connected to the Ops Daulat," said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun. The cache of weapons includes an M16 rifle, several bullets and magazines and even one that looks like a launcher, he said.

Rashid said police made the connection between the finding and the Ops Daulat because the weapons were found within an area where Ops Daulat was conducted. He also confirmed that the person who found the stash is currently under police custody in order to assist investigations.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The finding was the second this year after another cache of weapons comprising several M14 semi-automatic rifles and pistols as well as ammunition for the weapons was dug out near some houses at Kampung Tanduo in January. The weapons, however, were heavily damaged and rusted which rendered their serial numbers unreadable.
