Football greats: Mohd Faiz deserves Fifa Puskas Award

Kuala Lumpur: National football legends shared their excitement over Mohd Faiz Subri's success at being shortlisted as one of three finalists for Fifa's Puskas Award 2016 for the spectacular goal he had scored in a match.Former Sabah and national striker Hassan Sani urged Malaysians to keep voting for the "nearly impossible goal"."I'm so proud that Mohd Faiz's goal is shortlisted for the final, leaving behind goals by big names in football like Lionel Messi and Neymar.

"We have to keep on voting because his victory is our victory," he said.Former midfielder in the 70s and 80s, Khalid Ali said the "physics defying goal" from the Penang striker should be crowned winner of the award as it had its own uniqueness compared to two other goals being shortlisted. He also believed that such goal could only be created once in a thousand years."Among the three goals being shortlisted, I'm sure Mohd Faiz's is the best because it was the only goal that has amazing features. He deserves the award," he told Bernama Saturday.

The two other contenders for the Puskas Award are Johnath Marlone of Brazilian club Corinthians and female player Daniuska Rodriguez of Venezuela.
