Man found hanged from bedpost at workers' cabin

Kota Kinabalu: The body of a man was found hanged from a bedpost at a workers' cabin in Kg. Gayang, in Tuaran, on Saturday. The 22-year-old Bisaya identified by police as Lorend Maginu, an IMM13 card holder, worked as a heavy machinery operator. Tuaran Police Chief DSP Abd Fuad Abd Malek (pic) said the discovery was made by the deceased's workmate at about 9.15am.

Initial reports showed that the colleague went to the cabin after his phone calls to the deceased went unanswered. The colleague entered the cabin and found the man in an unresponsive state at the side of the bed. "Preliminary inspections found no criminal elements however investigations are still being done," said Fuad. Several cases of unnatural deaths were reported in the State this year, among them a suspected Myanmar woman who succumbed to her injuries after falling from the eighth floor of a condominium along Jalan Sulaman on April 29.

On April 21, a Caucasian also succumbed to his injuries after falling from the 12th floor of a condominium in Tanjung Aru, while a man believed to be in his 50s, died after he fell from the sixth floor of a shopping mall in the city on March 21.The March incident took place barely a week after a 53-year-old Sarawakian man succumbed to his injuries after falling from the 13th floor of a hotel along Jalan Lintas in Kepayan.
