Liang is new Span Chairman

Putra Jaya: Simpang Renggam Member of Parliament Datuk Liang Teck Meng has been appointed as the new National Water Services Commission (Span) Chairman effective Nov 1, 2016.Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Maximus Johnity Ongkili announced the appointment of Liang, who is also Gerakan Secretary-General, in a statement Monday.

Liang succeeded Datuk Ismail Kassim whose term ended on Oct 31, 2016.

The ministry hopes Liang's appointment would further drive S in realising the national water services industry's policies.

This included ensuring a dynamic and progressive regulatory system to promote development, as well as manage the impact of the water services industry towards the community and environment, it said. – Bernama
