Sabahan bags Langkawi title

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah's Mohd Shah Ahmad shined at the Langkawi International Muaythai Open 2016 organised by Cenang Muaythai Club and Langkawi District Youth Council, which ended on Saturday.The UiTM Shah Alam sports science student clinched the title with a brilliant knockout in the second round of his 55kg bout against a Thailand opponent from Tomoi Padang Terap Club.He was one of only two local exponents who managed to beat a Thai opponent in the tournament which had attracted foreign entries, with the other achieved by national athlete Muhamad Ali Yakub.ADVERTISEMENT The Sandakan lad had prior to the competition based his training camp in Langkawi for two weeks which was arranged by 66 Unicorn Club together with Sabah Muaythai Association (SMA).SMA President Ir. Nazri Ab Razak who was present at the finals was full of praise for the success of Mohd Shah."Congratulations to Shah as he has done the State proud and I am sure all combat sports enthusiasts in the State will feel the same. Nazri also said the public here will get the chance to watch the inter-district competition organised by SMA and the Kota Kinabalu District Muaythai Association at the Karamunsing Complex on December 10-11.ADVERTISEMENT The two-day competition will also feature Sabah Muaythai Fight – a pro event which will be held in the evening.
