Govt gives RM980,000 for SIB Church project
KEMABONG: The Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) Development Committee was finally able to resume work on the SIB church construction work that was abandoned a few years ago, after the Federal government approved an additional allocation of RM980,000.Ketereh MP cum Umno central information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa worked on the additional allocations that have been submitted in the form of a cheque to the Church Development Committee chairman Hanis Padan Ukung.

The occasion was witnessed by Kemabong Assemblyman Datuk Rubin Balang, Tenom District Officer Madiyem Layappan, Sabah Mara Director, several SIB Pastors , Assistant District Officer Jasli Tindi and state and federal officials and local community leaders.

Annuar who is also the Chairman of Mara said he had also helped people there over 20 years ago when he was the Minister of Rural Development after replacing the late Tun Ghafar Baba.

Now the development has become more advanced and the lack the infrastructure has been addressed, he said.

These significant changes have shown that Rubin had played a very proactive to bring progress to the area of ​​Kg Baru Jumpa.

"Rubin is not only likeable but a diligent worker ... and this is what we want ... a leader who is responsible and people-oriented," he said at the ceremony to hand over the cheque in the grounds of the old SIB Church in Kg Baru Jumpa, Monday.

He was grateful that his efforts were successful due to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's attitude to help rural communities on issues of development, especially the construction of the church.

In the meantime, he urged the rural community to continue to increase their support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) government helmed by Umno because by doing so the people will continue to enjoy sustainable development.

Earlier, Rubin said the development had in the beginning received provisions from the State through an allocation of RM150,000 from the Chief Minister, and a second provisions of RM200,000 under the Prime Minister.

However, it was still not enough to continue/complete the building of the church, the budget for which was expected to reach RM2.6 million.

"In such circumstances, not only the officers of the Church Committee felt pressured but also myself ... because I also want to see the Church completed."

Meanwhile, Hanis who warmly welcomed the presence of Annuar at the ceremony, said the architectural design of the building was done by a local Lundayeh engineer, to prove locals also have the ability .

When the church is completed, it will be used for various church activities by SIB members from the interior, he said.
