Thai masseuse fined RM5,000

Kota Kinabalu: A 36-year-old masseuse from Thailand who charged her customer RM280 for sex was jailed a month and fined RM5,000 or three months' jail on Wednesday.Wichunee Kietsermsuk pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to soliciting for prostitution in a hotel here at 9.17pm on Nov 30.Inspector Mohd Rasydan Jasni, prosecuting, told the court that a police team went to the said hotel following tip-off on vice activities by foreigners there.

A woman, later identified as Wichunee was detained after she was found in a room together with a man. The man confessed to have paid Wichunee RM280 for her service. Counsel Dominic Chew, representing Wichunee, requested for a lenient fine saying Wichunee who has a child is a single mother and supporting her parents back in her country.Wichunee had committed an offence under Section 372B of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to one year or fine or both on conviction.

The court ordered her referred to the Immigration Department after serving the sentence and paying the fine.In another case, seven people were penalised for committing drug-related offences.
