Man gets 26 months, fined for keeping other's MyKad

Kota Kinabalu: A 25-year-old man was sentenced to 26 months' jail for having another's MyKad.Pudar Jeffri pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to the charge against him on Wednesday.

He was found having the document under the name Wan Azmi Ibnuh on Oct 26 this year at Penampang town.

The offence under Section 25 (1) (e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 provides for a jail term of up to three years, or fine of between RM3,000 and RM20,000 or both.

The court heard that Pudar was arrested by police during Ops Bersepadu when he acted in a suspicious manner.

During documentation, Pudar produced the MyKad but the photograph on the document was not Pudar.

Pudar confessed that he had obtained the document from his friend, one Abdullah Danim and that it was not his document.

After completing his jail sentence, Pudar was ordered referred to the Immigration Department.

Inspector Mohd Rasydan Jasni prosecuted.

In another case, a man was ordered to pay a fine of RM3,000 in default a month behind bars for drink-driving.

Abdul Karim Abdul Rahman admitted to driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol along Jalan Bundusan in front of Damai Club, Penampang on July 16 this year.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man was fined RM700 or spend one week in prison for driving without a licence.

Shim Chee Chung was found committing the offence along Jalan Bundusan, Penampang on Sept 26 this year.
