Yayasan Sabah bid: Shafie urged to clear air
Kota Kinabalu: State Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ramlee Marahaban said it is odd for Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal to be talking of restructuring Yayasan Sabah when he should, in fact, confirm whether he was truly implicated in an attempt at the backdoor listing of the Foundation in 1994.According to Ramlee, Shafie used Aman Takzim with another company for the non-transparent listing which failed when it was opposed.

"But now Sabah Foundation has progressed well under the BN government and leadership of Datuk Seri Musa Aman who is the Chief Minister," he said.

Ramlee, who is Umno Semporna Information Chief, also claimed that Shafie's accusation that Sabah Umno is sabotaging his party's roadshow in Sabah was unfounded.

He said Shafie's accusation appeared to be desperate because "the failure of Warisan's tour in several areas in Sabah is a proof that the people are loyal to Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN)".

He said Shafie needs to accept that Warisan has no place in the people's heart in the state.

"If people prefer to attend functions and events that are organised by Umno compared to Warisan, then Warisan obviously has no place in Sabah," he said in a statement.

On Shafie's pledge to scrap the issuance of communal titles, Ramlee said the CT was the initiative of Musa so that land remains with the natives.

"In the past, we issued native land titles but these were sold to gain profit without thinking that the titles could elevate improve the owner's economy if the lands were to be toiled accordingly.

"Furthermore, the concept of the communal titles is a proactive measure of the State Government in addressing poverty problem in Sabah to protect the welfare of the people in Sabah and to avoid indiscriminate selling of native lands."
