PAS open for talks to form pact in Sabah for GE14

Kota Kinabalu: Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sabah is still exploring possibilities of forming a pact with other opposition parties in the State to face the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).Its Youth Deputy Chief Zulzaiem Hilmee Abidin said the party is open for discussion with any political party and coalition that may be interested to have a pact with PAS except the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH).So far, he said, PAS Sabah has yet to have official negotiation with any party in Sabah, including from Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan).

"In the previous general election, PAS Sabah contested in nine state seats and two parliamentary seats. However, for the next general election, we will be contesting more seats except the 13 new state seats."The party will field its candidates in those seats that have higher chances to get more votes and based on the mood of the voters in those seats," he said to reporters during PAS's dialogue session and gathering with the Sabah media here. Also present were National PAS Youth Vice Chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin and Sarawak Youth Chief Mohammad Arifiriazul Paijo.

Meanwhile, Arifiriazul said the Youth wing has organised a social and welfare programme known as "Untukumu Sarawak" and "Untukmu Sabah" that will render welfare and social benefits to the people in both states.In Sarawak, he said the Youth wing is involved in helping those in need of basic amenities such as building houses and hanging bridges via gotong-royong.

As of today, he said about RM300,000 has been spent to provide various infrastructures to the people in Sarawak.Arifiriazul said PAS is not only focused in its struggle in politics but also aiming to serve the people's needs and welfare.
