Ministry Sec-Gen held; gold and cash seized

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) seized and impounded cash and gold bars worth about RM3 million following the detention of a secretary-general of a ministry suspected of being involved in corrupt practices, near here, Wednesday.MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Azam Baki said as a result of the detention, the agency detained another male suspect aged 29.He said the 29-year-old man was suspected of playing a role in receiving and keeping the proceeds of the corrupt payments from contractors, suppliers and vendors on behalf of the secretary-general, aged 59 and with a 'Datuk' title.
