92 teams taking part in Petangue meet

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 92 teams took part in the Politeknik Kota Kinabalu Petanque Mixed Doubles Sabah Open 2017 Championship which started at the Polytechnic's own Petanque arena on Saturday.Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan in his opening speech read by Sabah Sports Board Chairman Datuk Louis Rampas praised the polytechnic for their initiative in organising the inaugural tournament.He said their efforts will help to unearth more talents to groom for state and international duties in the future and at the same time to produce youth with a competitive and strong mental attitude.

Apart from local entries, the two-day competition also attracted participants from Sarawak, Peninsula and Brunei.Also present at the opening ceremony were deputy academic director from the Polytechnic Dullah Muluk, Sabah Petanque Association President Hj Noorzain Hj Tawi.
