Mutual China ties benefited all: Mazhong

Kota Kinabalu: Mazhong Friendship Association Sabah President Oh Ei Sun said Malaysia, particularly Sabah, had benefited much from having close collaboration with China thus making business activities more amicable and favourable for both sides.

"We have gained much goodness and apt knowledge. We are thankful that since the Consul-General of China took office in KK in 2014 we had seen vast changes in terms of good collaboration and promoting friendship between the two countries," he said at the farewell dinner of Sun Xiaowu, Deputy Consul-General who would end his term by this month.

Sun took office at the Consulate based here in 2014.

Forming good ties and cordial relationship is very important for long term business dealing. China is a county we all can learn and benefit from," said Oh.

Present were Chinese leaders from various associations and honorary guests namely, Her Excellency General Consul of People's Republic of China Chen Peijie: MCCC (Malaysia-China Chambers of Commerce) president Datuk Frankie Liew; Sabah Publishing House Managing Director, Datuk Clement Yeh; Sabah Deputy Assembly speakers Datuk Johnson Tee, and Datuk Johnny Mositun; Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister's Department, Datuk Edward Ong Oi Fah and Datin Mary Yong; former Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Dr. Yee Moh Chai among others.

Chen Peiji commended the hardwork and dedication of Sun during his term in KK, saying there had been much improvement and better ties among the businessmen between the two countries.

"Such dedication had given a lot of benefits to both parties. I am thankful to Sun for his tenure while holding office in Kota Kinabalu. I wish him all the best in his future endeavour."

Meanwhile, Oh encouraged members to continue the collaboration in various fields such as economic, cultural and education sectors.

He said with positive outlook and harmonious rapport, there would be a long term and healthy affiliation between China and Malaysia in years to come.

"I believe that with unity and good rapport among one another, it creates positive economic growth.

Therefore, let us continue to be united and maintain good relationship with each other and we will see improvement in our economy," said Oh.
