Tawau: Nine premises selling chicken in the district were inspected during a Halal Inspection Integrated Operation, on Wednesday, the first of its kind, to be held in Sabah this year. Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department Chief Enforcement Officer Abidin Ali Hassan said the operation was meant to ensure that premises selling beef and chicken are from reliable sources. "We also want to make sure of compliance with Halal certification by the premises involved, especially not to confuse buyers who are Muslims," he told a media conference after leading the operation. ADVERTISEMENT He advised all operators who sell chicken to apply for Halal certification and to avoid displaying other logo except for the actual Halal logo, adding that action will be taken against premises displaying false or photostated Halal logo. He said those found guilty could face action under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011. Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
