RM810,000 more to give over 3 years

Kota Kinabalu: This year marks the seventh release of RM280,000 by Excelrun Sdn Bhd from its RM2.5 million Charity and Education Fund to 28 selected beneficiaries under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.Established in 1993, Excelrun is the developer of Lintas Plaza and Lintas Station.On hand to make cheque presentations of RM10,000 each to 13 welfare/charitable organisations and two Chinese independent secondary schools totalling RM150,000 was the General Manager Juliet Lo, assisted by the Accounts Manager Sen Yen Moi and Personal Secretary to the Managing Director, Catherine Wong at a restaurant, here, Thursday.ADVERTISEMENT The recipients from Kota Kinabalu comprised Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Kidney Society, Sabah Society for the Blind, Sabah Society for the Deaf, Cancer Society of Sabah, Society for the Sabah Heart Fund, Seri Mengasih Centre, National Stroke Association of Malaysia, Taiwan Buddhist Tzu-Chi Foundation Malaysia (KK Liaison Centre), Kota Kinabalu Lions Ambulance Service Society, Sabah Thalassaemia Society, Kinabalu Breast Cancer Support Association (Kinabalu Pink Ribbon), Kota Kinabalu Charitable Foundation, Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School, KK, and Kian Kok Middle School, KK.Earlier, the company had sent 13 cheques of RM10,000 each (totalling RM130,000.00) to nine outstation schools and four outstation charitable organisations in Papar, Beaufort, Kudat, Tambunan, Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu and other outskirts via courier service.In her address, Lo disclosed that the Excelrun Charity and Education Fund has another three more years to go with a balance sum of RM810,000 yet to be distributed, thereby fulfilling the CSR pledge of RM2.5 million.She expressed the company's appreciation to all the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) volunteers and school management boards for their tireless efforts, loving care, selfless contribution and sacrifices, which have benefited the poor, needy, sick and destitute.ADVERTISEMENT "We hope the funds received by the 11 independent secondary schools and would alleviate the financial hardship of their needy students. Lo added that it is the company's fervent hope that its CSR effort would inspire and convince one other person or corporation to emulate their move.

About 70 NGO leaders and media representatives attended the annual charity event with the theme "We Care, We Share and We Appreciate". All were later feted to lunch at the venue.
