Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Umno is confident and well-prepared to face the general elections when it is called, said Sabah Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Musa Aman.Musa who is also Chief Minister said he had also reminded all Umno leaders, especially in the grassroots level, to consistently go down to the ground and meet the people."Going down to the ground is a routine for Umno where we meet the people before, during and after the elections.

"What's more important is that we listen to their woes and help them. So there should be no problem for us to do our 'turun padang' programmes," he said after a Sabah Umno liaison meeting at the Umno Sabah headquarters, Tuesday (pic).Admitting that the opposition parties have been active in their approaches to reach the people, especially in the rural areas, he said, "as leaders, we should meet the people and explain to them what the government has done for them thus far."
"We have proof that we are sincere in our fight and we always understand the people's needs."The Government has introduced numerous people-oriented policies and we thank Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for initiating beneficial policies."

Citing the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) scheme which Musa said was claimed by certain quarters as a form of corruption, he said the programme has proven to be good for the people."From the start, we have stressed that BR1M needs to be provided for the people, especially those who need it.

"It is sincere contribution from the government for the people," he said.On the meeting, Musa said it is the first Sabah Umno liaison meeting for this year and he had met division leaders, including Youth, Wanita and Puteri Umno leaders during the meeting."I have reminded them to carry out their duties as usual as we were entrusted by the people to serve them."As such, any problem should be resolved immediately, especially now during the rainy season."We noted that the wet season will affect roads, bridges and other infrastructures."

Towards this end, he said the State and Federal Government are committed to repair any damaged infrastructure. "We are always ready to serve the people," he said.
