Sabah Unity Cup comes to close with final

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Unity Cup Football Championship comes to a close today (Sunday) at the Penampang Stadium starting at 1pm.The highlight of the day is the league final between Mamai FT and Penjara FC which will begin at 4pm.

The two finalists secured their places after Mamai edging Luton 2-1 in the semi final while Penjara beating Likas United 3-1 in the other last four tie.

It is going to an exciting match as newcomer Mamai with most players from Kota Marudu are likely to give their more experience opponent a hard time for the final glory.

The winner in the final will get the cash reward of RM5,000 plus trophy, medals and a set of football jersey while the runner-up will receive RM3,000, trophy, medals and also a set of jersey.

The two losing semi-finalists will each get RM1,000, medals, trophies and jerseys sponsored by Ararat Sports and Souvenirs.

Meanwhile, the league final will be preceded by the Everise United Sdn Bhd-sponsored FA Cup final with NABT taking on Luton FC where the champion will take home RM2,000, medals, trophies, jerseys and RM1,000 with the same goodies for the runner-up.

A total of 34 teams throughout Sabah took part in the annual event organised by Penampang Unity Football Club to promote the football development in Sabah.

Tournament organiser Edwin Jomiji called on all supporters to come and give their support.

He added that MSN director Terrance Pudin is set to officite the event on behalf of Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan with the presence of Penampang District Officer Luvita Koisun.
