Future looks bright for Sabah Under-19 goalie

Kota Kinabalu: Youngster Mohd Ramzie Mustakim could become the future State number one goalkeeper, according to State Under-19 goalkeeping coach Jasrin Jabidin.With the senior team running short of capable local players who can man the post for them in the past few seasons and having resorted to engage local imports, Jerry said the 18-year-old from Tawau recommended by National Football Development Programme coach Ruslan Jeffrey stands a very good chance to claim the spot in the near future if he can stay focused in his training and continue to improve."At the moment he is the best in the Under-19 squad and he is more than capable to fill in the shoes left vacant by Mazlan Norli who was the first choice last season.

"His potential was also noticed by the National School Sports Council last year when he was selected to play for the national team in the Asean School Games. "From my observation, he has a bright future and definitely can go far. He has the height at six feet and his explosiveness is also very good. He is called 'master one-hand' in the school competitions as he tends to dive and save with only one hand."His reading of the game is also up to mark and the only weak point so far is the need to work on his agility which at the moment is a bit lacking," said the veteran coach.Meanwhile, the youth team this season under head coach Jelius Ating assisted by Awang Sabtu and Jasrin has two other new goalkeepers in the squad.
