Taoyuan-KK Friendship Pact proposed
Published on: Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has agreed in principle to the proposed Friendship Pact between Taoyuan City and Kota Kinabalu City.

He was briefed on the proposal by the President of the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre, Taipei, Datuk Adeline Leong, during a courtesy call at Seri Gaya, Monday.

Leong stressed that the friendship pact would strengthen bilateral relations between Taiwan and Malaysia, and bolster people-to-people relations.

"It is only in the initial stage. I met the Mayor of Taoyuan City for a preliminary discussion in November last year," she said.

Taoyuan City is one hour's drive from Taipei City where the Taoyuan International Airport is located.

Later in the day, Leong also met up with Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai to discuss potential formalisation of the pact.
