250 expected for Tanduo Memory Run

Kota Kinabalu: More than 250 participants are expected to take part in the second edition of the Tanduo Memory Run in Lahad Datu, next month.Programme coordinator Yandy Merika said, the run aims to commemorate the deeds of the fallen national heroes in the 2013 Ops Daulat apart from promoting Felda Sahabat as a running destination in the State.

"The programme can also be a good avenue to unearth and identify new talents in long distance run who can be developed further.

"Apart from that, participants can also showcase and develop their talents and skills," he said.

Yandy said, the 12km run will be flagged off by SK Sahabat 16 headmistress Jannah Madullah at the school compound and runners will pass through several locations within Felda Sahabat.

The closing ceremony is expected to be attended by Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Datu Nasrun Datu Mansur.

The run will be divided into the Men's and Women's Open (19 and above), Men's and Girls' Junior (12 and above) and Men's and Women's Veteran (40 and above).

Yandy also said cash prizes will be offered to the top ten runners in each category.
