Kota Kinabalu: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has denied that PKR Inanam assemblyman Roland Chia has been dropped in the new line-up of the party that was discussed in a meeting held on Jan 18.Its Secretary Abdul Razak Jamil said there was no issue at all about Chia being dropped in the new line-up as he was never appointed as the Treasurer by the former chairman of the party Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin as reported. In fact, he said another person named Jonathan was appointed as the Treasurer and there was a record in the party that showed Chia is a member of the PKR State Liasion Committee and the elected Supreme Council committee during the then leadership of Lajim.

"The new line-up agenda was discussed at length during the State Liaison Meeting on Jan 18, this year and every divisional chairman/chairwoman who was present had given time to express their views."It was an inclusive line-up where all the 26 divisional chairmen were appointed to head various bureaus.
"Chia's status remains the same as during Lajim's leadership of the party. However, Chia who is also PKR Sepanggar Divisional Chairman was appointed as the Chairman of the National Integrity Bureau by our new chairwoman Christina Liew," he said here on Friday. Razak was responding to a report in the paper published Friday that Chia was surprised he was not in the PKR Sabah line-up.Chia was also reported that as far as he was concerned, he was totally unaware of these appointments as he was not in the said meeting.

In light of this, Razak said the issue of Chia not being in the meeting is not true as the attendance of the divisional leaders record showed clearly that Chia did attend the meeting held at 2pm on Jan 18."All 23 divisional chairmen/chairwomen out of 26 or their representative were invited to the meeting and Chia did attend it but only half way and deputised his deputy chairman of his division to continue in the meeting on his behalf as he (Chia) had other matters to attend to.

"Our minutes of the meeting showed that Chia's deputy chairman participated in the discussion on the new line-up."Hence, we are certain his deputy would have informed him (Chia) what transpired after he left the meeting half way," he said.In addition, Razak said the party has deferred the announcement of the new line-up until Feb 1, two weeks of the said meeting so as to give time for the divisional chiefs to think about their appointments. He said so far, the party has not received any rejections including from Chia and it is therefore deemed accepted by all the divisional chairmen of their respective appointments.Nonetheless, he said the party expressed gratitude to Chia for publicly declaring his loyalty to the party and trusted him to continue his commitment to the party and the people in Sabah. In the new-line-up, Liew will be assisted by deputy chairman Mustapha Sakmud, vice chairman Datuk John Ghani, Mohd Amin Mem and Kenny Chua. The women wing will be headed by Rahimah Majid and the Youth wing will be led by Raymond Ahuar.
