Kuala Lumpur: Malindo Air has extended its Smarter Shuttle service from Subang to three more destinations, namely Alor Setar, Terengganu, and Kota Bharu for free. Chief Executive Officer Chandran Rama Muthy said the decision was made following the success of its shuttle flights to Penang and Johor Baharu.

He said the service was not only convenient, but also time efficient for passengers as they could maximise or minimise the day at their destination in accordance with their schedule.

"This would be a huge advantage to leisure and business travellers alike, especially for local destinations, where they would be able to hop on the available flight of their preference," he said in a statement.

On Malindo Air's outlook for 2017, Chandran said it would be a very promising year, with a series of initiatives and anticipated developments in the pipeline at its city hub, the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.

He said the airline expected its passengers to increase by 25 per cent to 1.7 million this year.

The target was set after considering market rationalisation and concurrent to Malindo Air's expansion plan which include taking delivery of two additional aircraft while maintaining the average load factor of 75 per cent, he said.

Marking Malindo Air's rapid growth, Chandran said the airline has introduced the Malindo Golden Senior Fare whereby senior citizens aged 60 and above would be entitled to a 20 per cent discount on the base fare.

Purchases can be made at Airport Ticketing Offices and authorised Malindo Sales outlets. – Bernama
