Junz: What has Dahlan done for Kota Belud?

Kota Kinabalu: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan should not be too quick to criticise others when he himself is not one without fault.Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Vice President Junz Wong said as the Member of Parliament for Kota Belud, Rahman had failed to ensure that the Federal government kept its promise way back in 2008 to turn Kota Belud into Sabah's rice bowl."So far, that has gone to naught. If I am not mistaken, there was a RM150 million allocation to upgrade the irrigation system for paddy fields in the district between 2009 and 2010. What is the result of this programme said to improve the irrigation system and to mitigate floods as well as double the yield of paddy production?" he said.ADVERTISEMENT He said playing by Rahman's own rule, then it means that he (Rahman) is responsible to look into the projects and to rectify the wrong considering the invested amount was very big."I would like to remind him that this are public funds allocated to help his constituents but what has he done about it? In fact, what has Rahman done for Kota Belud?" he said.Commenting on Rahman's promise to construct a bigger and wider concrete bridge over Damit River, Wong predicted that it would turn out to be yet another election empty promise, just as the one Rahman promised to the people of Luyang a few years back to build a multi-storey car park building to ease the parking woes there. To this day, he said, that car park building remains just another of BN's long litany of empty promises which also included a PPA1M Project in Tuaran, announced by the State government in 2013.ADVERTISEMENT "Almost four years later, I have not heard any progress on this project. I was told that it had not even got through the development planning stage. As the previous Federal Housing and Local Government Minister, maybe Rahman would like to enlighten the Tuaran folk as to what happened to this project? Or perhaps it would be included in the BN manifesto for the upcoming election?" he said.Regarding the proposed concrete bridge, Wong said Rahman perhaps might have hit below the belt when he chose to accuse Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal of 'denying' Tuaran villagers of the facility.

Perhaps, he said, Rahman could explain why the State government has been procrastinating the approval of the proposed Bum Bum Bridge.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

"I was told by Warisan Youth Chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman who is a Semporna local that the people of Semporna have been waiting for more than 20 years for the Bum-Bum Bridge but it seemed that the project was blocked even though the allocation has been approved by the Federal government," he said.Wong said Rahman should not be too confident as to think that Tuaran voters, and even the Kota Belud villagers are fools and would just fall for BN's empty promises. - Tracy Patrick
