Kota Kinabalu: A team from the Civil Defence Force caught another snake in Beaufort, this time at Kampung Jempanga, Jalan Batu 58, on Friday.The 2.2-metre long yellow banded reptile was found entwined among the branches of a lime tree (pic) by a retired civil servant who wanted to harvest the fruits from his farm. Jainur Suntik, 67, was about to pluck the fruits when he noticed the strange colour of what was initially thought to be a 'branch' was actually a snake about 11.30am.

A team from the Beaufort Civil Defence Force led by Usman Harto was alerted via 999 and arrived at the scene to find the snake on the branch about five metres from Jainur's house. The reptile which weighed 1.5 kilogrammes was captured about 12.25pm and brought back to the Beaufort Civil Defence Force office for further action.
Several incidents involving snakes have been reported in the district over the past months, among them a King Cobra, measuring 11-foot long, which was found inside the bedroom of a house in Kampung Tambalang Along 1 in February last year.

In October 2014, a 13-foot cobra was also captured by Fire and Rescue personnel after it was found coiled inside a car engine compartment in the district. - Sherell Ann Jeffrey
